The Three-Legged Dog, LLC.

My name is Heather and yoga has transformed my life.  I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years and was first drawn to yoga because of the beauty of movement I saw in the poses.  I have a life-long dance background and to me, yoga is a beautiful dance.  I also spent most of my adult years working full-time in an environment where I was surrounded by technology and I lived around corporate America's "hurry-fast-now" mentality.  While I didn't realize it at the time, my life and the way I was living it was making me sick!  I now know that I have been living in my sympathetic nervous system an as a result, I have suffered from digestive disorders, insomnia, anxiety, and other stress-related issues.

As I began to deepen my practice, I took a teacher training program and I was introduced to, and fell in love with, meditation and philosophy.   A meditation-based yoga practice has changed the way that I deal with the stressors in my life AND it has changed the way my body reacts to those stressors.  I am now a certified yoga instructor and not only am I honored to share what I have learned, but I believe that I have a responsibility to do so!

I am trained in the YogaWorks method, which is inspired by both Iyengar and Ashtanga, and I teach public, private and corporate yoga and meditation and my teachings focus on safety and self-awareness.  I am a forever student of yoga and I currently study under the loving and watchful eye of Yogarupa Rod Stryker, who initiated me into Tantra's Sri Vidya lineage.  I teach various styles of yoga and especially enjoy teaching Gentle/Restorative and Yin Yoga.  I have been gifted with amazing teachers and mentors and I am honored to carry their light.

I am an avid runner and I coach various running teams in the Richmond, VA area.  I travel every single chance I get, I try to laugh even more, I love boxers (can you tell??), I love the snow AND the sun equally and I really, truly, and deeply believe in my heart and soul that Hawaii is heaven on earth.

Yoga is not just postures; yoga is lifestyle.  The true gift of yoga is that it has the potential to reawaken in you YOUR truth, bringing with it equal amounts of self-awareness and methods to achieve inner peace - posture is just the beginning.  Try it....there's a class for everyone...just ask!
